Federal Director of the CDU, Dr. Klaus Schüler, Deputy Secretary General of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, and Deputy Head of the Department European and International Cooperation of KAS, Frank Priess, have been in Singapore for talks with media representatives. They discussed current political challenges in Europe and Asia – like the current situation of refugees that affects both continents or questions according foreign and security policy.

Am 20. Januar 2011 fand in der Akademie der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Berlin eine Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema „Medien und die Entwicklung von Gesellschaften – das Beispiel Asien“ statt, an der Medienwissenschaftler Professor Martin Löffelholz von der TU Ilmenau, Medienrechtler Professor Peter Schiwy, und KAS-Auslandsmitarbeiter Paul Linnarz teilnahmen. Die Moderation übernahm Frau Sabine Porn vom rbb Inforadio. Die Veranstaltung wurde vom rbb aufgezeichnet in der Sendung „Das Forum“ ausgestrahlt.

Säule der Demokratie

Die Medien sind eine Säule der Demokratie, kommt ihnen doch eine Schlüsselrolle zu: Sie informieren, kontrollieren und kritisieren. Durch den Boom der Sozialen Medien ergibt sich nun eine grundlegende Veränderung. Ein großer Teil der sozialen und damit auch politischen Kommunikation in den Gesellschaften findet inzwischen über die digitalen Netzwerke statt. Am Beispiel Asiens diskutierten in der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Berlin Experten die Auswirkungen dieser Wandlung und wagten einen Blick in die Zukunft.
