These questions will be at the core of a regional conference on the topic „Education of Journalists in South East Europe – Key to Media Professionalism“. The one-day conference will take place in Sofia and will be jointly organized by the Media Program South East Europe of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Bulgarian Media Democracy Foundation. In four panels, journalists, media professionals and university lecturers from all countries in the region will exchange their experiences and go on to define guidelines for the future journalists’ education. This conference will aim to initiate a public debate about the current state, the deficits and the need for action in the area of journalists’ education in Southeastern Europe. Observers notice that qualitative reporting and journalistis professionalism are still woefully deficient.
