The freedom of expression is one of the most fundamental principles of every democracy. Therefore, current developments of the media freedom in many European countries are particularly alarming. For example the EU member state Bulgaria which is ranked 111th in the press freedom ranking 2018 of "Reporters Without Borders".  The seminar will try to find answers of the following questions: What is the current situation of press freedom in (South East) Europe? Which meaning has its deterioration for the democracy? Is this development still reversible? Journalists from South East Europe will take part in the seminar, as well.

Only scholars of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung could participate in the seminar. Speakers are, among others, journalists from South East Europe.
