Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes erhält Orden der Republik Moldau

Für seine großen Verdienste um die Förderung der deutsch-moldauischen Beziehungen ist Norbert Beckmann-Dierkes, ehemaliger Länderreferent für Mittel- und Osteuropa und heutiger Leiter der Auslandsbüros der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Lettland und Litauen, vom Präsidenten der Republik Moldau, Nicolae Timofti, ausgezeichnet worden.

24 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy expressed in Berlin his concerns over the challenges Europe is facing today. In front of 600 invited people at the Allianz Forum in Berlin, Van Rompuy warned against growing populism on the European continent and the rising of distrust. “Populism and nationalism cannot provide the answer to the challenges of our time”.

Das Konrad-Adenauer-Forum 2010 hat Diplomaten, Politiker, Vertreter von NGOs, Professoren, aber auch Studenten und Medien-Vertreter eingeladen um über die Zukunft der Republik Moldau und die Möglichkeit einer EU-Mitlgiedschaft zu diskutieren.

„Today, Europe’s 500 million citizens have the foundation on which to build a better Europe in the future,” said Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council in the first „State of Europe“ address. Van Rompuy used this address to promote a confident and strong Europe in front of an audience of 800 citizens at the historic Pergamon Museum in Berlin.
