The recent South African Elections: Lessons for Namibia

Dr. Bernd Althusmann, the Resident Representative of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, welcomed and thanked all present on the panel and in the audience for their participation in the second Electoral Debate organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Drawing on the experiences of the first debate in March 2014, Dr. Althusmann stressed the positive media resonance and particularly welcomed the representative of the governing SWAPO party, who participated in the event for the first time.

Breakfast meeting with the Churches

Dr. Bernd Althusmann, the Resident Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, welcomed and thanked all present for responding positively to the invitation. He underlined the importance to meet with the leaders of the churches and different faith centres to discuss their role in society. The churches have a significant role to play in a modern society and this must not be undermined, he added. As someone who comes from a family that has roots and close association with a church, he perfectly understands that the role of the church in society is important.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung hosts Namibia’s first Election Debate in Windhoek

In view of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections at the end of November 2014, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Namibia & Angola (KAS) in cooperation with Forum for the Future (FFF) organised and hosted a public election debate, with the aim of introducing and encouraging a culture of public discussion between Namibia’s political parties and society.

Recently Namibia has been plagued by reports of ethnic and racial tensions between the various groups in the country. In view of its mandate of facilitating public dialogue and discussions, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF) organised on the 5th and 6th of June 2013 a public lecture and a panel discussion on the topic, the resurgence of tribalism and ethnic tension and it’s impact on national identity.

Climate Change - Is it real?

On Monday, the 13th of February, 2012the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS)Namibia organized together with the Namibianchamber of commerce and industry(NCCI) a public lecture on the Impactsof Global Climate Change to the Namibianeconomy and society. Bundeskanzlerin Merkel trifft KAS-Partner in Angola

Bei ihrem Angola-Besuch hat sich Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel auch mit den lokalen Partnern der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung getroffen. In einem Hintergrundgespräch zur Situation der Zivilgesellschaft in Angola unterhielt sie sich unter anderem mit Claudio Emanuel, Journalist bei dem von der KAS geförderten Radiosender „Despertar“, und dem angolanischen Rapper MC Kapa. Moderiert wurde die Diskussionsrunde von Holger Haibach, der seit Kurzem das Länderbüro der KAS für Namibia und Angola leitet.
