Details

The New Equitable Economic Empowerment Framework (NEEEF) aims to restructure the private business sector through empowerment of previously disadvantages persons. The NEEEF plans to provide a policy framework which includes empowerment policies of Government and private sector initiatives.

However, since its introduction, the concept of the NEEEF has been discussed very controversially and has led to uncertainties and numerous debates amongst stake holders from politics, civil society, economy and the media. Furthermore, H.E. the President of Namibia Hage Geingob, just recently expressed an adverse attitude towards certain aspects of the draft bill, which now once again raises questions in regards to the way forward.

Before this background, the panel discussion aims to inform about the specific contents of the framework, provide the broader public with recent facts and information and debate possible outlooks and developments for the future.
