Book Launch: Namibia Land of Many Cultures

Celebrating 40 Years of Kuiseb Publishers

In celebration of Kuiseb Publishers’ 40-year anniversary, the Namibia Scientific Society (NNS) in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Namibia Library and Archive Services (NSAL), are launching the Publication titled "Namibia Land of Many Cultures" at the Namibia Scientific Society. With over 100 invited guests, this celebratory evening aims to merge culture, and community and reflect on four decades of publishing whilst the editors will share an overview of this the new book which highlight the richness and diversity of the Namibian nation. Dress Code: Traditional Attire Refreshments will be served

KAS-TEP Session 2 Otjiwarongo

Strategic Planning, Project Management & Change Management

Session 2 of the annual KAS Talent Empowerment Programme, hosted in Otjiwarongo for four days, aims to capacitate 16 selected youth from Civil Society with Strategic Planning, Project Management & Change Management skills. The sessions further aim to facilitate networking and strengthen collaborations in Namibia's civil society sector.

Advocacy and Human Rights Workshop Group 2: Erongo and //Kharas regions

ECSO Project

The ECSO project is hosting a workshop with 26 participants from the Erongo and //Kharas regions from Monday 28 July – 01 August 2025 in Windhoek. The aim of this workshop is to empower CSOs to become strong advocates on issues affecting their communities and to better equip them to advocate for the rights of those most vulnerable. The workshop objective is to engage participants to effectively interrogate the legislation that is aimed at protecting the rights of all Namibian citizens.

Human Rights Workshop & Community Engagement Rundu

Office of the Ombudsman

In collaboration with the Office of the Ombudsman and KAS, and in support by the Ministry of Justice, Office of the Governor Kavango East Region and other key stakeholders, this three-day community engagement and Human Rights workshop aims to inform and provide a platform of exchange with community and key stakeholders on access to human rights, as well as available legal services, the mandates of both the Ombudsman and Ministry of Justice, challenges, as well as relevant legislation unique to the experiences of the region. With the aid of the Security Sector, key representatives will also use this platform to outline means to combat human and child trafficking, as well as GBV. Protection Orders as well as Childcare Protection also constitute part of the topics of the engagement, together with a focus on land rights. In addition to the workshop, the Ombudsman and KAS conducted a special guest lecture at the University of Namibia Rundu Campus with over 40 students on the Mandate of the Ombudsman and importance of Rule of Law and Human Rights. The visit was concluded with a courtesy visit to the Governor's Office in Rundu where the newly inaugurated Office of the Ombudsman was showcased.

PDM Training Workshop

Political Communication, Realignment, and Leadership

KAS facilitated a training for the PDM on political communication, realignment, and leadership in Otjiwarongo from 22-25 July 2025. The Training was instrumental to enhance participants' understanding of key themes, realities and challenges confronting the party and how the leadership could shape a best way forward. One participant noted that “I am happy to receive this training, because it has really opened my eyes. I will be a wise leader in future”.

Training of Facilitators Workshop on the 5th Manual "Advocacy and Human Rights"

ECSO Project

The ECSO Project hosted a training of facilitators training on the fifth manual for the project titled "Advocacy and Human Rights" at the KAS offices in Windhoek from 30 June to 4th July 2025. The aim of the training is to equip project trainers to effectively deliver content on advocacy and human rights to projects with targeted CSOs. The manual is aimed at providing CSOs with strong advocacy skills and an in-depth understanding of human rights and Namibian laws in protecting these rights.

Exit Roundtable with the Media Ombudsman of Namibia

Panel Discussion: Reflections of Media Monitoring during the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly Elections

KAS in collaboration with the Office of the Media Ombudsman and the Editors Forum of Namibia are hosting an exit roundtable to wish the outgoing Media Ombudsman farewell and touch on the importance of self-regulation in the media sector. The aim of the roundtable is further to strengthen dialogue on media freedom, professionalism, and ethical reporting. In conjunction, a panel discussion will take place with four key experts, moderated by Gwen Lister to reflect on media monitoring during the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly election period in Namibia.

The goal of the workshops is to empower at least 15 participants representing small businesses who are identified by CSOs in the community with the capacity, to create sustainable business models. The workshops also cover entrepreneurial skills training that forms the basis of this capacity building initiative on economic strengthening.

Project proposal writing & donor funding sessions in //Karas Region

ECSO Project

The ECSO project is conducting a range of project proposal writing workshops with selected CSOs of the //Karas region participating in the project. The sessions scheduled from 17 to 18 June in Keetmanshoop aim to reach 28 participants. The training covers aspects of proposal writing best practices and tips on how to approach donors for potential funding.

National Disability Week in Namibia

Inclusivity in Namibia

KAS Namibia-Angola together with the National Disability Council of Namibia (NDCN) on 05th and 06th March shared insights on the occasion of the National Disability Week which took place in the Oshana Region, Northern Namibia. The event was attended by key ministries, the National Disability Council of Namibia and other key stakeholders. All relevant national Organisations for People with Disabilities were present to exchange challenges and way forward. The event highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships, accountability, transparency and efficiency when developing and implementing sustainable and impactful programmes for persons with disabilities. KAS Namibia together with key stakeholders continue to collaborate to promote inclusivity and favorable regulatory frameworks for the sake of access to services, information and employment opportunities for People with Disabilities. 

World Press Freedom Day 2021

The Sidelines

On 3 May 2021, the media industry globally joined the host country Namibia to celebrate World Press Freedom Day 2021, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Windhoek Declaration - well known for paving ways for free speech, media freedom and media pluralism in Africa and the world. In celebrating world press freedom day, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and UNESCO Global and local offices have led celebrations by hosting a number of events prior, during and after the global commemorations.
