Celebrating 40 Years of Kuiseb Publishers
In celebration of Kuiseb Publishers’ 40-year anniversary, the Namibia Scientific Society (NNS) in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Namibia Library and Archive Services (NSAL), are launching the Publication titled "Namibia Land of Many Cultures" at the Namibia Scientific Society. With over 100 invited guests, this celebratory evening aims to merge culture, and community and reflect on four decades of publishing whilst the editors will share an overview of this the new book which highlight the richness and diversity of the Namibian nation. ECSO Project Community Dialogue and Information Session
Erongo region
The ECSO project team will be hosting two community engagements in the coming week in Erongo region. The project which is co-funded by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the European Union (EU) and co-implemented by KAS and Women's Action for Development (WAD) aims to strengthen and provide a platform for engagement between CSOs in Erongo region and their regional and local authorities. On Wednesday 21 May 2024 the project team will be hosting a community dialogue with CSOs and regional and local authorities present with some community members to discuss two topics of importance, "Alcohol and Drug Abuse: How the multiple bars had affected the community" and the second topic, "Resources in Erongo, how can CSOs benefit from resources specifically the mines?" The hope is that this one day engagement will lead to fruitful engagement on the chosen topics. On 22 May 2024 the project team will host an information session between CSOs and regional and local authorities to provide a platform for relationship building for the benefit of the people of the region. Both events aim to foster collaboration between the various parties.
MSME Digital Bootcamp Rehoboth
Session 1
KAS in collaboration with the NIPDB, will be implementing and facilitating the second phase of Digital MSME Bootcamps in partnership with the Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) at their regional based Computer-Based Learning Centres (CBLC) and affiliated teacher resource centres, in the following towns; Rehoboth, Keetmanshoop and Eenhana, with the aim to upskill at least 63 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with basic computer skills and enhance their efficiency, productivity and competitiveness in the market, as well as adoption of technological innovation. The second phase aims to to upscale at least 55% of participating MSMEs from their initial size to the next phase(s) by 2028 and further to strengthen coordination of smart partnerships and assist the NIPDB and NAMCOL in achiev-ing targeted initiatives under their priority sectors.
ECSO Project Community Engagement with civil society organisations and stakeholders
//Karas Region
The KAS and European Union co-funded ECSO project team will be in //Karas region for two community engagement events with civil society organisations and stakeholders. On 23rd April the KAS and WAD team will be hosting a community dialogue on the topic "Development in the Community: Creating income generating activities from Regional Resources". On 24 April an information session with CSOs and stakeholders will take place in an effort to build relationships in the region.
ECSO Project Public Dialogue and CSO Stakeholder Meeting
Kunene Region
The ECSO project will be hosting two events in the Kunene region this week in an effort to bring community members, civil society organisations and regional stakeholders together to discuss burning issues faced by the regions. On Tuesday 16 April 2024 the team will be hosting a Public Dialogue on two key issues identified by CSOs as needing to be addressed together with stakeholders to reach a solution, the first "Alcohol and Drug Abuse: How the multiplying bars had affected the youth in the community". The second topic that will be discussed is "The lack of educational qualification and its impact on unemployment". Through the platform provided by KAS and WAD it is the hope that community members along with CSOs and stakeholders will come to solutions to these issues faced by their communities. On 17 April 2024 a CSO and stakeholder meeting will take place with the participating CSOs in the project and Regional Authorities as a means for each to collaborate and build a relationship.
FDN Symposium: The Challenges for Namibian Democracy
Discussion Roundtable in association with the Forum of German-speaking Namibians
The Forum of German-speaking Namibians (FDN) in association with the Swakopmunder Gesprächskreis and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Namibia-Angola Country Office are hosting a one-day symposium on 13 April 2024 with the aim to exchange insights on the challenges that Namibia's Democracy faces and recommendations on the way forward. Together with four guest speakers, the discussion roundtable aims to engage around 70 invited guests.
Review of the Constituency Development Fund Bill (CDFB)

KAS is joining the Association for Regional Councils (ARC) who are convening in Mariental. The two day retreat scheduled from 09 to 10 April 2024 will discuss and review the Constituency Development Fund Bill (CDFB). More the 50 representatives from regional and local authorities are expected to attend.

UNITA is the main opposition party in Angola. UNITA leadership and representatives from the 18 provinces of Angola come together in the capital Luanda to attend a two days KAS workshop on key matters such as political communication and marketing and to discuss trends in Southern Africa facing elections.
Youth Empowernment Training
Youth and Citizenship leadership principles
The workshop provides todays young people in Angola with practical tools, skills to help them navigate on leadership, personal development, ethics and citizenship. Also to know their rights and encourage them to participate in the society.
