Auf Einladung der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung besuchte in der vergangenen Woche eine Delegation hochrangiger Vertreter nigerianischer Sicherheitsorgane wie Militär, Polizei und andere Sicherheitsorganisationen Hamburg, Lübeck und Berlin. Begleitet wurde die Gruppe von der Leiterin des Auslandsbüros in Abuja Frau Hildegard Behrendt-Kigozi. Organisiert wurde das Besucherprogramm vom Team Inlandsprogramme.

Cooperation between the Executives and the State Parliaments in making Laws

The programme for delegates from parliaments of Plateau, Cross River and Ogun States took place from March 26 -27, 2014 in Obudu Mountain Resort.The theme was chosen to discuss how the cooperation between the executives and the legislature towards making good laws for their states could be improved.

Interactive Workshop on Mitigating Violence

This 2-day workshop was held in partnership with COMMUNITY POLICING PARTNERS FOR JUSTICE, SECURITY AND DEMOCRATIC REFORMS (COMPPART) at Entry Point Hotel and Suites, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State from March 10 - 11, 2014.It was a security and conflict prevention workshop for the Zone 6 police zonal command, which comprises of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers and Ebonyi States. The region is known to have serious security issues especially land disputes, youth violence, gang or cult wars, which have hampered development and trust among the different ethnic groups in the region.

Roundtable on Cooperation of CSOs and the Media in the Preparation for the coming Elections

On March 4, 2014, about 30 participants from Civil Society Organizations (CSO) and media practitioners met at the KAS Abuja office to assess the cooperation between CSOs and the Media, especially in view of the coming elections.

A seminar on German federal elections with journalists, 5 high ranking representatives from the Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police took place in the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation office on 22.09.2013. The Secretary to INEC, represented by Mr. I.K. Bawa, Esq. gave an insight into the Nigerian electoral system and Dr. Weth, representative of the German Embassy in Abuja, explained the German electoral system.

Report on the parliamentary workshop for Cross Rivers and Plateau States Houses of Assembly.

Because of its commitment to Democracy and the Rule of Law, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung provides capacity building workshops for selected State Houses of Assembly (Parliaments) in Nigeria every year. This year’s seminar for the Cross Rivers and Plateau States Houses of Assembly was State Laws – Adaptation of Federal Laws at State Level. The workshop took place from the 11th to 14th of June 2013 at the Obudu Mountain Resort in Cross Rivers State.
