The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is organizing a capacity building workshop for the research fellows of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) to update them on the current and contemporary skills needed to provide research support to the National Assembly of Nigeria.

Providing research support to the legislature has been recognized by many parliaments across the world as a task better left for a dedicated institute like NILDS, and constant trainings are needed for the research fellows to be able to provide the legislators the best advice and direction in their policy-making and legislative duties.  All research fellows of NILDS will participate in this capacity building in which topics from core research and academic areas on Essentials of Drafting Bills and Motions for Legislature; Legislative Agenda and Tracking Performance: An Overview of the Monitoring/Implementation Framework of the 8th House of Representatives; Bill/Policy Analysis: Issues, Considerations and Challenges; The Canons of Scientific Research & Application in the Legislature; Types, Nature and Techniques of Report Writing in the Legislature: Essential Considerations in Providing Committees Support Services; Issues and Challenges facing the Legislative Bureaucracy in Nigeria: Strategies for Institutional Strengthening; the Legislative Process in Nigeria: Entry Points for NILDS; Developing Linkages between the Legislature/Legislators & Researchers in Nigeria and many other topics shall be treated. The seminar is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to democracy, rule of law and good governance in Nigeria. ​​​​​​​
