Details

The zone has witnessed the most ferocious conflicts especially banditry, farmers/herders conflict and violent extremism,  that have led to an unprecedented increase in internal displacement of persons resident in the three most affected states of Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau. Most worrisome is the helplessness of security agencies to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators to instill deterrence. The increasing level of suspicion, mistrust, and lack of cooperation among security agencies and between security agencies and citizens has hindered success in tackling the insecurity.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is expanding platforms for improved understanding and collaboration among personnel of the various security agencies and the cooperation of civilian citizens in providing the requisite information and partnership to help in combating the insecurity in the zone.

The seminar aims at promoting and embedding the culture of coordinated collaboration among security agencies and fostering symbiotic cooperation between them and civil society by jointly discussing and working out strategies for building trust, confidence and information sharing.

The seminar is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support to the Security Sector Reform in Nigeria. This program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
