Policy advice by KAS for Parliaments is popular in Nigeria. The Plateau State Parliament even financed a 14-day study trip for all its members to Germany to learn about social market economy – KAS organized the programme.

After the relatively successful and fair elections in April 2011, KAS now also counsels Parliaments of the south-western part of Nigeria. Topics of the first Workshop with the Members of Ogun are among others: The law-making process, fight against corruption, competent exercise of mandate, conflict management.

In a vibrant mixture of presentations and group work, the newly elected as well as re-elected old Members will learn how to use the techniques of Parliamentarians – e.g. by preparing bills in a competition.

Town Hall meetings will follow later, in which the constituents can discuss with their representative about their policies and give them suggestions.
