Interagency Collaboration among Security Agencies in the South-South Zone

Support to the SSR in Nigeria

KAS is cooperating with Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ Committee on Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to organize a four-day training workshop for middle-level officers of security agencies in the South South geopolitical zone on promoting interagency collaboration. The training workshop which will hold in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State will have participants who are officers drawn mainly from operations, public relations, peace and conflict resolution departments from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, the NSCDC among others from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States.

International Conference on Security in West Africa

KAS Nigeria successfully organized a two-days high level international conference with the theme “Tackling Security Challenges in West Africa: Embracing Coordination and Cooperation”, which was held on 16 and 17 July 2019, in Abuja, Nigeria. KAS Nigeria partnered with Nigeria’s House of Representative’ Committee on Army to organize the conference with funding from the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Interactive Workshop on Mitigating Violence

This 2-day workshop was held in partnership with COMMUNITY POLICING PARTNERS FOR JUSTICE, SECURITY AND DEMOCRATIC REFORMS (COMPPART) at Entry Point Hotel and Suites, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State from March 10 - 11, 2014.It was a security and conflict prevention workshop for the Zone 6 police zonal command, which comprises of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers and Ebonyi States. The region is known to have serious security issues especially land disputes, youth violence, gang or cult wars, which have hampered development and trust among the different ethnic groups in the region.

A seminar on German federal elections with journalists, 5 high ranking representatives from the Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police took place in the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation office on 22.09.2013. The Secretary to INEC, represented by Mr. I.K. Bawa, Esq. gave an insight into the Nigerian electoral system and Dr. Weth, representative of the German Embassy in Abuja, explained the German electoral system.
