Workshop on Strategies for Effective Implementation of the Legislative Agenda of the House of Representatives
Promoting Democratic and Good Governance
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is cooperating with the Office of the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, National Assembly, to develop effective strategies for implementing the 2020-2021 Legislative Agenda of the House of Representatives, especially with emphasis on sections of the Agenda that relate to strategic goals for strengthening Nigeria’s security sector to overcome prevalent challenges and gaps such as poor funding, poor oversight, obsolete laws, weak intelligence, low personnel morale, poor infrastructure, weak intelligence / information technology, among others.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is cooperating with Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ Committee on Army, and the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) to organize a two-day training workshop for the leadership (Clerks and Deputy Clerks) of committees on the various security agencies in the national parliament (Senate and House of Representatives). The workshop, which is a follow up to previous ones organized by KAS, aims at enhancing the capacity of Clerks and Deputy Clerks on ways of improving the performance of parliamentary committees towards building effective, accountable and inclusive committee system to effectively translate policies into legislation and legislations in policies.

KAS is cooperating with Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ Committee on Army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to organize a four-day training workshop for middle-level officers of security agencies in the North-Central geopolitical zone on promoting interagency collaboration. The training workshop which will hold in Jos, Plateau State will have participants who are officers drawn mainly from operations, public relations, peace and conflict resolution departments from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police, Department of State Services, the NSCDC among others from Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau
