The US presidential elections on November 6, 2012 have been closely monitored by Palestinians and widely discussed in the street. Most of the Palestinians believe that the re-election of Barack Obama sends a more positive message to the Palestinians than had Mitt Romney been elected.

Wahlergebnisse der palästinensischen Kommunalwahlen 2012

Am Samstag, dem 20. Oktober 2012 fanden zum ersten Mal seit 2004/05 Kommunalwahlen in den Palästinensischen Gebieten statt. Auf Grund des Boykotts der Hamas und israelischen Restriktionen fanden die Wahlen nicht im Gazastreifen bzw. Ost-Jerusalem statt. Aber auch im Westjordanland fanden die Kommunalwahlen effektiv in lediglich 93 Gebietskörperschaften statt, da die Sitze in 181 Gemeinden wegen mangelnder Konkurrenz mittels Akklamation vergeben wurden und in 78 Gemeinden wegen des Fehlens von Listen Wahlen erst am 24. November durchgeführt werden können.

In den meisten Wahlkreisen im Westjordanland wird es keine Wahl, sondern lediglich eine Akklamation geben.
