In his opening speech to the Conference “Developments and Perspectives of the European Middle-East Policy” on the 29th of June 2005 Birringer underlined the special importance of local partner organizations for a successful and sustainable work of the Foundation in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories.

Therefore, he is intending to carry forward the work of Dr. Atilgan and against this background to continue and further immerse the close cooperation with partner institutions.

In this spirit, future activities will focus on the support of youth and the economy. In the regional context, the cooperation with the offices of Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in the area, especially with the regional program Middle East and the country office in Israel will be further intensified.

At the end of his speech, Mr. Birringer thanked his predecessor Dr. Canan Atilgan for the good introduction and expressed his appreciation to partners and employees for the cordial welcome in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories.

After that, Dr. Canan Atilgan thanked the partners and friends of the Foundation in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories for the good and friendly cooperation in three successful years.
