The German Experience

15 young Palestinians in Berlin are looking for inspiration for their own country

In front of the Ring Center, a shopping mall in Berlin Lichtenberg, Palestinians hand out flyers for the Christian Democratic Party (CDU) to passersby. Two of them hold up pictures of the top candidate, a third one takes a picture, giggling. A punk halts and starts to discuss with the candidate, Danny Freymark. Election campaigning was also part of the program of the 15 Palestinian journalists and media professionals who had been invited by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) to explore Berlin.

Many Questions to Ask

15 Palestinians discover Germany and come up with a plenitude of questions

Is federalism not too expensive? Does the government have an influence over the German media? What does the Bundesrat (Federal Council of Germany) do? Who decides about Germany’s foreign policy? Germany is a country that bears many question marks for the 15 young Palestinian journalists and media professionals, who were invited by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) to come to Berlin and get to know German politics and journalism.
