For three days, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Palestine hosts a group of German doctoral candidates to offer them a closer look into the regional and local security and development challenges. As part of their study and dialogue program in Israel and Palestine, the participants have the chance to meet and discuss the topic with our Palestinian and international experts, diplomats and politicians.

German Experiences with Establishing an Independent Justice after Reunification

German experiences gained during the reunification process can contribute to the introduction of the rule of law in a future Palestinian state – that was the common denominator of the lecture “Der Fall der Berliner Mauer und der Aufbau einer rechtsstaatlichen Justiz in Brandenburg”. The event took place as part of the lecture series “Legal Encounter” on the 3rd of November 2008 at Birzeit University. It was organised by the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Ramallah, and the Institute of Law (IoL), Birzeit.

Al-Kasaba Film Festival: "The Heart of Jenin"

Within the Al-Kasaba International Film Festival 2008, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) presented six films about the topic „Every day life in Conflict Zones”.The films were shown in cooperation with Al-Kasaba Theatre and Cinematheque in Ramallah, East-Jerusalem and other cities of the West Bank. One of the screened films was the documentary “The Heart of Jenin”, directed by the German filmmaker Marcus Vetter.

Baader Youth Network Organizes a Model United Nations Simulation

A Model United Nations (MUN) simulation was held in Ramallah from October 30 to November 1, 2008, in the framework of the Baader Youth Network. For Baader members from the main cities of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, the objective of this simulation was to learn about how the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations work.

Within the framework of the Baader Youth Network (BYN) the third three-day Political Leadership Workshop was held in Ramallah titled “Development of Youth: Obstacles and Opportunities”.

Two Studies on Seperation of Powers in the Palestinian Model

As part of a series of meetings with the aim of strengthening the role of the Palestinian civil society in the legislative process, a discussion of two legal studies took place on Wednesday, October 22nd 2008. The event was initiated and organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in cooperation with the Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy (MIFTAH).

In the framework of an educational journey to Israel, a visitors group of the centre for political education of the Federal State Thueringen participated in a seminar taking place in East Jerusalem and Ramallah, organized by the KAS Representative Office Ramallah.
