KAS Scholars meet Palestinian startups, civil society and learn about political reality

This week KAS Palestine welcomed a delegation of about 22 scholarship holders of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung as part of a one-week seminar trip to Palestine and Israel. The group first visited Jerusalem before going to Ramallah on the following day. During two very exciting days, the participants met with various institutions as well as representatives from politics, religion and civil society.

Change of perspective: Two-state solution or One-state reality?

On March 5, we welcomed in Ramallah a delegation headed by Prof. Andreas Rödder, board member of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation. The dialogue program was part of a multi-day trip through Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Marc Frings, head of the KAS office in the Palestinian Territories briefed the group on the political and social situation in Palestine. In a conversation with Dr. Mohammed Shtayyeh, who holds the rank of a minister heading the Development and Reconstruction Council, a deeper insight on the official positions of the Palestinian leadership has been gained. Other program elements included two meetings with three young representatives from civil society and a Palestinian journalist who regularly reports from the Gaza Strip.

Religious Coexistence Initiatives

On February 7, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Palestinian Territories welcomed the executive board of the International Council for Christian and Jews (ICCJ) in Ramallah. The group toured Israel and the Palestinian Territories, while focusing on "Religious Coexistence Initiatives" during their meetings. The ICCJ acts as the umbrella organization for more than 40 national Christian-Jewish dialogue organizations worldwide and is committed to the peaceful coexistence of the three Abrahamic religions. As part of their consultations, the group visited KAS office in Ramallah and benefited from its political and civil society network.
