The office of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories has organised several meetings with Palestinian politicians, intellectuals and representatives of economy in cooperation with the German Representative Office Ramallah.

Current political developments were the main subject of an hour-long discussion with Nasser Al-Kidwa, adviser for International Relations to Mahmoud Abbas and former foreign minister of the Palestinian Authority. Especially the debates concerning the creation of a unity government, as well as issues in international law were elaborated on. Detailed briefings by Thomas Birringer, Resident Representative of KAS Ramallah, by Jörg Ranau, Head of the German Representative Office Ramallah and by the Negotiations Support Unit, an independent Non-governmental-organisation, which advises the PLO on negotiations with politicians preceded the discussion.

Representatives of the Palestinian civil society, politicians and business men were invited for dinner together with the Executive board of the CDU Parliamentary Group by the German Representative Office Ramallah providing an excellent opportunity to further discuss relevant issues in detail. Thus, possibilities to cooperate with Palestinian universities and current economic problems were elaborated on. In this context, the high potential of the Palestinian private sector was highlighted.
