After the invocation of the Christian and Muslim faiths, the event officially opened with the welcome remarks of Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Department of European and International Cooperation of KAS. This was followed by a statement from Mr. Lito Lorenzana, President of the Centrist Democracy Political Institute and Former Undersecretary in the Cabinet of President Cory Aquino, who chronicled KAS's 50 years of service and political journey in the Philippines. Next, Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, President of the Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines, spoke of "Centrist Democracy Shaping the Future of the Philippines."

The highlight of the event was the speech made by Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, Chairman of KAS and former President of the European Parliament, on "Europe and Asia - Partners in a Changing World." Finally, Dr. Peter Köppinger, Representative of KAS in the Philippines, gave the closing remarks.
