Undersecretary Santos said that recognitions like the KAS Peacemakers circle were important for providing valuable “feedback” on the work of those working on the ground. Chairman Von Haq described the easy camaraderie among himself, Santos, and Soheimi, and the atmosphere of the ongoing peace process as a “historic one” In his remarks, Klaus Preschle lauded the IMT and the CCCHs for “being instrumental in drastically reducing the number of armed conflicts between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF),” and noted that the awardees “have shown the world that sustainable peace can be achieved not by the barrel of a gun but through diplomacy and negotiations.”
