Prof. Dr. Dr. Rudolf Dolzer (Right), Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Country Representative Klaus Preschle (Left) met with Chief Justice Reynato Puno (Center) last September 8. In this courtesy call, the Chief Justice was informed about the speaking engagements of Dr. Dolzer, a renowned German expert in constitutional and international law, will be having during his visit in the Philippines.

Dr. Dolzer was invited by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung to address a conference of LAWASIA and KAS on “The Concept of a Constitutional Court”, a governor’s forum on “The Concept of Autonomy and Federalism” and served as a keynote speaker for Philippine lawyers engaged in international law and for civil society groups in the federalism and peace advocacies. The Chief Justice and Dr. Dolzer have already met earlier in several conferences for constitutional and Supreme Court judges in Asia, supported by the Singapore-based Regional Rule of Law Program of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

The talk was also used to explore possible areas of support from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung for judicial reforms. Chief Justice Puno expressed his deep appreciation for the Foundation and the German guest and invited Dr. Dolzer as a speaker on the issue of constitutional courts in the lecture series of the Supreme Court.
