Details

World-renowned exhibit, World Religions, Universal Peace, Global Ethic, is back in Manila from October 9 – October 21, 2008.

Mr. Klaus Preschle, Country Representative of KAS in the Philippines, with Dean Victoria Licuanan of AIM and Dr. Federico Macaranas, Executive Director of the AIM Policy Center, inaugurated the opening ceremonies.

Opening today, October 9, 2008, the exhibit will be displayed at the lobby of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) from October 9-16 and at the Manila Hotel from October 17 – 21.

The exhibit was displayed last year from Nov. 30 – Dec. 12, 2007 in various locations around Metro Manila and Davao City, upon invitation of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS).

Accompanying the exhibition will be Mr. Peter Schier, who is an independent consultant in common values education, inter-religious and interethnic relations, and conflict prevention. Mr. Schier is also the former country representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung to Malaysia. He has given numerous lectures and published several books and over 100 articles on China, Cambodia and Southeast Asia and has presented numerous papers at international conferences. Mr. Schier is a graduate of Peking University and of Free University of Berlin (M.A.).

The exhibition features 26 posters which examines several “world religions”, namely Hinduism, Confucianism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, the Baha’i Faith, as well as indigenous spiritualities, and highlights their common values and ethics leading towards the concept of a “Global Ethic”.

This exhibition is the result of a close collaboration between the Global Ethics Foundation (GEF) in Tübingen (Germany), the Konrad- Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Malaysian Interfaith Network (MIN) over the past 4 years. It is based on a lifetime of research by the famous theologian Professor Hans Küng and the inputs of many other international experts and representatives from all religious backgrounds.

The exhibition has been shown at the 2nd ASEM Foreign Ministers Meeting in Hamburg, Germany and at the Singapore National Library earlier in 2007. Versions of the exhibit had earlier been on display at the Headquarters of the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund.
