Details

The "Asia - Europe Think Tank Dialogue" is organized annually since 1998. The aim of this dialogue is to offer representatives of think tanks from Asia and Europe the opportunity for an exchange of ideas and insights on current issues of bi-regional and international relations. The dialogue forum also serves as a platform for sharing information, enhances cooperation among institutes from both continents and supports the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process. In doing so, the event is always held in conjunction with an ASEM Senior Officials' Meeting and tries to establish a link between the think tanks and ASEM officials.

This year’s conference was held in cooperation with the Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies and discussed the topic “Addressing the Impact of Digitalisation – What Role for ASEM”. At the conference, experts analyzed expectations for the ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the following week and evaluate the impact of digitalization on key elements of politics and society – namely, state-society relations, the economy, education and global governance.
