Germany has decided. Angela Merkel will remain chancellor. But after securing a fourth term in office, the coalition-building will be challenging. Additionally, the political competition has widened. Germany will have six parties in the Bundestag, and the two giants of the political centre are at their lowest ebb. The FDP has returned to parliament after four years and for the first time in the country´s modern history, voters have elected a far-right party that will be the third-largest party in the Bundestag. What effect will this have on the political culture and policy? Precisely what role will the AfD play in the 19th Bundestag?
We are honoured to welcome Mark Hauptmann, Member of the German Bundestag, Barbara Plinkert, EU Ambassador-designate to Singapore and Dr. Tim Philippi, Executive Director of the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce as speakers.
