Job Announcement: Project Manager for Digitalisation (m/f/d)

For three months we are looking for a Project Manager on a part-time basis (20hrs/week)

For our activities & projects between April and June we are looking for additional support in the area of digitalisation (e governance, Smart Cities) to facilitate the planning, budgeting, implementation and evaluation of several events. The Project Manager will be employed on an honorary basis of 20 hrs per week for the duration of three months.

Improving Water Policy and Governance in Emerging Asia

Between the 7th and 8th of December, the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation is organising an international conference on “Sustainable Water Management: Improving Water Policy and Governance in Emerging Asia” in Singapore. We will receive policymakers, government officials from Singapore and Germany, industry leaders, academics, researchers, energy experts, environmentalists and representatives from international organisations to discuss the water-energy-nexus and transboundary water governance (amongst others).

Policy Dialogue on Migration and Integration - Sharing European and Asian Experiences

On 29 and 30 November 2012, a “Policy Dialogue on Migration and Integration” of the EU-Asia Dialogue took place in The Hague, the Netherlands. The event was held at the Ministry of Security and Justice of the Netherlands. International experts, researcher and policy-makers discussed opportunities for closer cooperation between the European Union and Asia with respect to migration and integration policies.

From 18-20 June, the University of Hong Kong convened an internationalacademic symposium on Myanmar with additional sponsorship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Oxfam.The symposium brought together some of the most eminent scholars in the fieldas well as seasoned practitioners, politicians and diplomats. Changing trends inMyanmar scholarship were reflected both in the increasing number of Burmeseparticipants, including from the ethnic minorities, as well as in novel approachesto studying the country....

Regional Development & Political, Administrative and Fiscal Decentralisation

International Dialogue

Myanmar’s new constitution, which came into effect with the inauguration of the Parliament in January 2011, has designed a new system of political, administrative and fiscal decentralization. The Constitution stipulates the territorial division into seven regions, seven states of ethnic minorities, six self-administered zones and the capital Naypyidaw as union territory. Moreover, citizens in the 14 regions and states elected for the first time regional parliaments that enjoy broad competences. However, the process of political, administrative, fiscal decentralization has not yet really begun.

Conference Report: The 14th East Asia Think-Tank Dialogue

Engendering Inclusive Growth: A common challenge for strong bilateral relations between Asia and the European Union

The 14th East Asia–EU Think Tank Dialogue took place on 12-13 September in Vientiane, the capital of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.On the occasion of this year's ASEM-Summit (Asia-Europe Meeting) head of states from Asia and Europe will also gather in Vientiane from 5-6 November. In preparation for the ASEM-Summit, the first session of the Think Tank Dialogue was therefore dedicated to the analysis of the bi-regional relationships. In particular the impact of Europe's current developments on Asia played a significant role.

Eco-Cities - Sharing European and Asian Experiences in Sustainable Urban Management

On May 25, 2012, an international workshop on “Eco-Cities” took place at the Carlton Hotel in Singapore. This event was part of the EU-Asia Dialogue.

Maritime Security and Piracy

From May 28 to May 30, 2012, a number of discussions and meetings with experts on maritime piracy and security took place in Kuala Lumpur / Malaysia. These discussions were part of the EU-Asia Dialogue.

Sustainable Urban Management - Sharing European and Asian Experiences

As part of the „EU-Asia Dialogue“-project, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organized a panel discussion on “Sustainable Urban Management - Sharing European and Asian Experiences”.
