Challenges for Electricity Industry in an Age of Renewable Energies

The Regional Project Energy Security and Climate Change in Asia and Pacific (RECAP) and Griffith University/Brisbane jointly organized an international workshop on challenges for the Electricity Industry in an era of growing renewable energy production. Experts from 11 countries gathered in Hong Kong to analyze recent developments in domestic electricity markets and worked on policy recommendation to better frame this far reaching transition process.

In light of the presentation “Strategic Perspectives for Bilateral Energy Cooperation between the EU and Kazakhstan”, a conference about the issues of energy security and renewable energies was held on the 16th of February at Nazarbayev University in Astana.

Together with Dr. Peter Hefele, the head of the KAS regional program for “Energy Security and Climate Change” in Asia, Thomas Helm, the resident representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Kazakhsan, visited the company Astana Solar in the Kazakh capital on the 15th of February.

Conference of the KAS Legal Alumni in Asia on the Legal Issues of Food, Water and Resource Security

Former Asian recipients of the KAS scholarship programmes in the field of law met in Hong Kong on 23 to 26 November 2015 for their annual workshop, which has now become a tradition. This year’s seventeen participants from China, Korea, Cambodia and Vietnam are currently working in various areas of the law, as lawyers and notaries, academics at universities and other institutes and in the government agencies of their countries.

Die Veranstaltung am 02. Dezember 2015 in Seoul beendete die lange Reihe seit 2011 durchgeführter energiepolitischer Maßnahmen des Auslandsbüros Korea der KAS in Zusammenarbeit mit dem SERI-EU Center der angesehenen Yonsei-Universität. Gleichzeitig bildete sie die Zäsur der Übernahme von KAS-Maßnahmen zu klima- und energiepolitischen Themen in Korea durch das neue, in Hongkong ansässige KAS-Regionalprojekt Energiesicherheit und Klimawandel in Asien und Pazifik (RECAP).

International conference
Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the SERI-EU Center of the South Korean Yonsei University organised a conference on energy cooperation in North East Asia. The event on 2 December 2015 in Seoul provided a platform for international experts and politicians to discuss future prospects for the Korean peninsula and its neighbouring countries.
