The COVID-19 outbreak has put the global economy to a halt, resulting in a significant reduction in the demand for energy. At the same time, a price war between the major oil suppliers triggered a collapse of the price of oil. With the CUHK Law Faculty, KAS RECAP will hold a webinar to examine the impacts of the coronavirus on the energy development in Asia-Pacific. The geopolitical and legal perspectives of such effects will be discussed in details.

Climate Finance & Sustainable Investing Conference 2019
KAS RECAP is supporting the Climate Finance & Sustainable Investing Conference 2019 with World Green Organisation and UNESCAP.
UNESCAP will co-organize with WGO a major UN conference, focusing on key Sustainability themes and Financial topics. UNESCAP will send their key representatives, including the Chief of Financing for Development Section, Macroeconomic Policy and Financing for Development Division to Hong Kong. Also, the United Nations will be inviting key government officials globally and distinguished speakers/experts to participate in the event.

Digital technologies are transforming our ways of living in every sphere. Since 2018, the United Nations is closely examining how digital cooperation can contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The core question is, how digital advancement can facilitate the debate on sustainability. KAS RECAP will invite key stakeholders in the local sustainability field in Hong Kong to discuss the key findings of the UN's report on the implications of digitalization for human development.

Regional Workshop on Emissions' Trading
Emission reductions in the electricity sector will be paramount if the Paris commitments of reducing global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius are to be attained. Emissions trading systems (ETS) as a cost-effective instrument for emissions control are now being implemented or considered across a diverse set of jurisdictions in East Asia.
