Five years after Paris agreement: An NDC status review in the MENA region.

This publication details the status of the implementation of the Paris Agreement after 7 years of its adoption. It focuses on the efforts of MENA countries in this regard and provides an overview of the level of involvement of these countries in the various climate processes that have followed the adoption of the agreement.

Policy paper: Towards a productive and environmentally friendly economic model.

This paper aims to highlight the shortcomings of government initiatives to promote green investment in Morocco, and the importance of promoting these initiatives and better articulating them as part of an overall national strategy to promote the green economy, foster sustainable production and consumption patterns, and redistribute public and private investment. Furthermore, green investment in Morocco is an opportunity and a source of economic diversification, as Morocco's investment in its enormous environmental potential will allow it to restructure the economy, push industry towards strategic specialisations and diversify the national product, thus increasing the added value of green sectors and their development.

Handbook: accelerating water entreprises.

The purpose of this handbook is twofold: to encourage partners to support water entrepreneurship through sector-specific acceleration interventions, and to provide guidance to water entrepreneurs in developing effective solutions to key water challenges. By partners we mean anyone interested in improving the water business ecosystem - this includes accelerators, donors or investors, to name a few.

Policy Guide: Tackling Plastic Pollution in the MENA Region.

The main target users of this guide are national and local decision makers in MENA countries. They are invited to use the ideas in this guide to design, plan, and implement policy instruments and measures to reduce plastic pollution in their respective countries.

Practical Guide: Implementing Sustainable Waste Separation Operations in the MENA Region.

In practice, taking these different models into consideration, this guide presents concrete recommendations adapted to the context of MENA countries, both in terms of infrastructure and available means and in terms of mentalities.

“STATE OF THE ART” report for wash thematic priority within UFM water agenda.

The main objectives of the SoA report are to provide a brief overview of the current state of WASH services in the UfM region, it also identifies strengths and weaknesses, priority areas for the WASH sector in the MENA region highlighted for information and knowledge sharing (i.e., technology, governance and economic aspects, best practices, and case studies). In addition, this report provides an assessment of the conditions and aspects of sanitation in the UfM region. With the development of a policy chapter highlighting the different approaches to WASH policy, regulation and implementation. In addition, an overview of innovative solutions worldwide in the WASH sector and those that can be applied in the region to support the UfM WASH Task Force linking the findings of the report with the objectives of the UfM Financial Strategy in the Mediterranean region.

Towards Developing a SEMED Water Knowledge Platform Mediterranean Water Development Outlook

This report will shed light on how these water use practices alter from one country to another based on climatic, financial, political and geographical factors.

This desk study aims to provide an overview of the key water use practices, socio-economic influence of water, threats, and challenges related to water in selected Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) countries, hereafter referred to as: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey. This report aims to examine these components by mapping the most relevant water use practices in each country, particularly in agriculture, as this sector represents the largest share of water demand in most of the SEMED countries in this study. These water use practices mainly consist of improving irrigation efficiency through the use of modernized irrigation techniques and conserving available water resources by switching to the use of non-conventional water such as desalinated water and treated wastewater.

Policy paper: Fires in the oases of Daraa Tafilalet.

In recent years, however, the production of dates -due to fires- has decreased significantly, from 85% to 60% of national production, according to the regional directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture. Given the exacerbation of the phenomenon of drought and high temperatures, especially during the summer phase, and this is due to the consequences of climate change, the oasis in general and in the region of Draa Tafilalet in particular, is facing the problem of fires.

For many years, Quneitra has been experiencing a black dust crisis that spreads during the night or early morning. Unfortunately, the population is not able to prove the source of this phenomenon due to the lack of scientific data to prove it, but residents doubt that it is probably a power plant that emits toxic and unfiltered emissions at night, so it cannot be detected. City residents are asserting their right to know what they are breathing.
