Renewable Energies, Energy Transition and Climate in African Law
Jurists mainly from francophone African countries debated climate issues in African law through the legal prism of the energy-climate interface. During the symposium, one of the points on which the North African jurists agreed on is the lack of interest aroused by the regularization of the legal aspects of the environment. The symposium called for more collaboration between private and public sectors for the sake of the environment, and for acceleration of Africa's energy transition towards gradual decarbonization, especially through the development of its immense exciting potential in green energies. In this spirit, the experts acknowledged the cruciality of the initiatives already established in the past years such as: Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa; Africa Energy Transformation Partnership; New Pact for Energy in Africa; Initiative for Renewable Energy in Africa; etc.
