Promoting the young, the future elite of a country, as well as cooperating with present day elite form one of the core missions of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) ever since its establishment in the `60s. Promoting elites can also be done through awarding scholarships to qualified young students and maintaining contact with former scholarship holders. The Rule of Law Program/Section South East Europe (SEE) of KAS supports the effort of the foundation in this field by organizing its own events for the former KAS scholarship holders in SEE with a legal background. Thus, between 26 and 29 of June 2008, the first regional meeting of KAS-Alumni from SEE who have studied law or related disciplines will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The purpose of this meeting is, apart from exchanging information, to discuss issues related to the development of the rule of law in the region (some of the participants will deliver presentations regarding the rule of law in their countries of origin) and especially to create and maintain a KAS-Alumni network.
