Details

The final legathon tackles civil and criminal law procedures and aims at making them more accessible to the general public.

Providing citizens with basic information needed in order to interact with the justice system in the most common cases that are being trialed, as shown by statistical data gathered by the SCM, can improve both access to justice and trust in the predictability of the justice system.

Open Justice 4 Citizens builds on the lessons learnt in the first stages of the project, either through the focus group with practitioners and experts from the justice system or through the feedback collected from citizens as a follow up to www.onoratainstanta.ro

  • There is an increasing need, both at the level of practitioners and of the general public, for simple and wide-reaching legal education tools for the citizens, especially with regards to the procedures to access the justice in the context of the new Codes
  • The data gathered from the justice system shows a huge potential to identify and implement tools aimed at improving the administration of the justice act by selecting the most frequent cases that get to the courts and making the citizens interaction with the system more user-friendly
The project addresses these issues by

  • Creating legal education tools, covering the most frequent cases in which citizens interact with the justice system, through a series of legal-thons with experts from the judicial system
  • Creating a communication campaign focused on promoting legal education tools based on the results of the legal-thons
