The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) takes pride in its wide-ranging network of friends and partners from civil society, politics and academia in Germany and worldwide. As many of our partners work on similar topics in different countries KAS sought to enhance synergies and ensure coherence by connecting them through a series of ‘Partner and Projects Networking Workshops.’

These workshops provide a platform for exchange of practical experiences and ideas from a comparative and multi-national perspective. They shall be organised in different countries and will address a variety of topics.

“Social Commitment and Political Participation in Muslim Communities” was chosen as the topic of the first series of workshops to be held in 2013. The topic was especially chosen due to the growing interest in social and political involvement of Muslims in Germany and the prior experience of many KAS-partners with related projects in other countries. It aimed to address this broader topic by focusing on different sub-topics in several workshops.

The second workshop focused on the sub-topic “Rule of Law and Equal Rights” and was held in Singapore on April 8-9, 2013 which invited legal and social experts of Muslim society from Bangladesh, Egypt,Germany, Indonesia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, Tanzania and Thailand.
