The above named four countries present an environment that is very challenging to press freedoms in Southeast Asia. Consequently, the Rule of Law Programme Asia in co-operation with Media Defence Southeast Asia (MDSEA) designed a practical training seminar for lawyers in these countries in order to enhance their media defence strategy. It was also designed to help lawyers in these countries to coordinate their media defence strategy with a wider regional network of free speech advocates such as MDSEA. Also, the training provided a venue for the participants from these countries to coordinate a sustained media defence cooperation in the future.
