Lebanese Constitutional Court Visit

On the 10th of February 2022, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa presided by its director Mr. Philipp Bremer, alongside eight law students, made a visit to the Lebanese constitutional council.

The Challenges of digital transformation in Public Administration

A webinar in Collaboration with The Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance (OFP) at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (USJ)

On Friday, the 19th of November 2021, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa in cooperation with The Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance (OFP) at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (USJ), organized a hybrid seminar entitled: “The Challenges of digital transformation in Public Administration”. The debate took place in an outdoor open space at the beautiful USJ campus in Huvelin and was streamed live over Zoom and Facebook, so that interested participants could take part and join in the debate.

Workshop on Human Rights in Lebanon

A workshop in collaboration with The Foundation for Human and Humanitarian Rights (Lebanon) in Beirut, Lebanon

On the 13th and 14th of November 2021, the Rule of Law Program Middle East & North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in cooperation with The Foundation for Human and Humanitarian Rights (Lebanon), organized a two-day workshop entitled “Human Rights in Lebanon” which took place at Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand Hotel. In particular, the aim was to qualify participants to realize their inherent, equal and binding rights for every authority and how to claim them.

Roundtable: “Freedoms & Elections – Towards more democratic practices”

On December 7th 2021, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East & North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) in partnership with SEEDS for Legal Initiatives organized a roundtable titled: “Freedoms & Elections – Towards more Democratic Practices” at the Smallville Hotel in Badaro, Beirut.

Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on the Judiciary

Together with LFPCP, KAS organized a webinar on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the work of courts, judges and the access to justice in several Arab and European countries

On Wednesday, 24th of November 2021, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East & North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in cooperation with the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace (LFPCP), organized an online workshop in which 7 position papers from Egypt, Spain, Tunisia, Estonia, Lebanon, Romania and Morocco were presented and discussed to identify the challenges and best practises brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact in these aforementioned countries.

On the 29th and 30th of November 2021, the Media Association for Peace (MAP) in partnership with the Rule of Law Programme Middle East & North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and UNIC Beirut, organized and hosted the "Media, Peace and Human Rights Annual Regional Conference 2021" at the Lancaster Hotel Plaza in Beirut, Lebanon.

Judges in Training: Workshop

On the topics of Anti-Corruption, Illicit Enrichment and the Crime of Human Trafficking

On the 2nd and 3d December 2021, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East & North Africa, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in partnership with the Judicial Studies Institute at the Ministry of Justice in Lebanon, organized a workshop on the Anti-Corruption Law, the Law of Illicit Enrichment and the Crime of Human Trafficking - the Legal Framework, Problems and Solutions. 32 judges in training attended the two-day workshop at the Smallville Hotel in Beirut.

On the 11th and 12th of November 2021, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa, with the help of Mr. Sam Menassa, organized a roundtable entitled: “Constitutionalism as Received and Practiced in a Selection of MENA Countries: Lebanon, Iraq and Tunisia” at the Lancaster Plaza Hotel, Beirut, Lebanon.

On the 15th November, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa, in partnership with the Human Rights Center (HRC-BAU) and the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at Beirut Arab University organized a symposium, under the title of “Towards a Rule of Law State: Challenges & Aspirations".
