Panel discussion "The Constitutional Court of Jordan: Evaluating Ten Years of Service and Future Prospects"

The panel aimed to discuss the study conducted in partnership with the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan in December 2021.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa, in partnership with the Center for Strategic Studies University of Jordan, held panel discussion titled "The Constitutional Court of Jordan: Evaluating Ten Years of Service and Future Expectations" on Tuesday, 19th of July 2022 at 12:00 P.M. in Amman, Jordan at the University of Jordan -Prince AL Hussein Bin Abdullah- School of International Studies.

Workshop: “Girls and Young Women Empowerment in the MENA Region" - phase 1

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Plan International Jordan partnered up to train 20 girls, young women, as well as youth/young women-led organizations on International Human Rights standards and principles.

In this first phase of the project, the workshop aimed at transferring knowledge and at training 20 young women from youth-led organizations from Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia and Jordan on fundamental international human rights principles. A second phase of the project will be held in September 2022 in Beirut, Lebanon, focusing on advocacy and lobbying skills. The target group was chosen from various MENA countries in order to equip them with the tools to advocate for their rights in their communities across the region.

Conference in Rabat, Morocco: Women's Access to Justice

A three-day conference together with ARPA, the National Human Rights Council of Morocco and the Mohamed V University of Rabat - and over 100 participants from over 7 countries.

Coming together at the Mohamed V University in Rabat, Morocco, over 100 participants from over 7 countries came together to discuss "Women's Access To Justice". Organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa, ARPA, the National Human Rights Council of Morocco and the Mohamed V University, the three day conference saw great working groups, big plenary discussions and the beginning of a strong network - for future work to come!

Panel Discussion: “Caretaking: A New System of Government"

The panel discussed the study that Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and the Legal Agenda conducted in June 2022. The study evaluates and researches the legal obligations and rights of caretaker governments.

On the 14th of July 2022, The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and the Legal Agenda (LA), held a panel discussion entitled “Caretaking: A New System of Government".

Boundaries of Religion and Citizenship in the Middle East and North Africa

A two days closed roundtable in cooperation with the MENA Legal Network in Cadenabbia, Italy.

On Monday and Tuesday, the 6th and the 7th of June 2022, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in cooperation with the MENA Legal Network (MLN) organized a two-day expert-roundtable entitled “Cohabitation and Cooperation between Religious and Secular Laws: Challenges and Opportunities for Religious, Political and Judicial Actors”. The roundtable took place at the historical Villa la Collina in Cadenabbia, Italy, with participation of international experts, doctors and professors.

Strengthening Parliamentary Oversight to Enhance Accountability and Transparency

A whole day round table in cooperation with the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace in Beirut, Lebanon.

On Thursday, the 28th of April 2022, the Rule of Law Program Middle East and North Africa of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in cooperation with the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace (LFPCP) and in collaboration with the Lebanese Parliament and the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union organized a one-day roundtable and discussion session entitled “strengthening parliamentary oversight to enhance accountability and transparency”. The workshop took place at the Library Hall of the Lebanese parliament, with the participation of ministers, MPs, judges, jurists, civil society actors and law students.

Together with UAEU, KAS organized an online workshop on the courts quality management and the models of judicial governance

On Tuesday, 26th Of April 2022, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa of the Konad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in cooperation with the United Arab Emirates University College of Law (UAEU), organized an online workshop in which a lecture was given in order to promote and strengthen the concept of “Judicial Governance” among legal students in the UAE.

On the topics of Domestic Violence and Juvenile Protection Law and the mechanisms of determining the exchange rate of Lebanese pound under exceptional circumstances

On the 24th and 26th of March 2022, the Rule of Law Programme Middle East & North Africa, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), in partnership with the Judicial Studies Institute at the Ministry of Justice in Lebanon, organized a workshop on the domestic violence and juvenile protection Laws and the mechanism for determining the exchange rate of Lebanese pound under exceptional circumstances –problems and solutions adopted in Lebanese and foreign courts. 33 judges in training attended the two-day workshop at the Smallville Hotel in Beirut, Lebanon.

On the 10th of February 2022, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa presided by its director Mr. Philipp Bremer, alongside eight law students, made a visit to the Lebanese constitutional council.

A webinar in Collaboration with The Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance (OFP) at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (USJ)

On Friday, the 19th of November 2021, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa in cooperation with The Observatory of Public Service and Good Governance (OFP) at Saint-Joseph University in Beirut (USJ), organized a hybrid seminar entitled: “The Challenges of digital transformation in Public Administration”. The debate took place in an outdoor open space at the beautiful USJ campus in Huvelin and was streamed live over Zoom and Facebook, so that interested participants could take part and join in the debate.
