Details

The event pursues the aim to provide lawyers with solid knowledge on selected substantive articles of the human rights conventions, especially the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (1987); and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1990).

The participants will be introduced to the practical procedures through which complaints can be presented to national and international institutions. Through this practical approach including short scenarios and case studies, the participants will have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge onto practical scenarios.

The introductory speeches will be delivered by the president of the Beirut Bar Association, Mr. Georges Jreij, as well as by Mrs. Mayssam Noueiri, judge and director-general at the Lebanese Ministry of Justice, who is going to speak about the role of her ministry in the protection of human rights.
