Reinforcing Protection and Rule of Law for Migrants and Victims of Human Trafficking in Lebanon - Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa
Expert conference
Details
The conference is a follow-up event to the regional workshop held in December 2013, in which 25 representatives of various stakeholders from Lebanon, Jordan, and Qatar shared their experience and discussed a way forward to strengthen the legal framework to protect migrant workers in their respective countries and the region.
Building on the fruitful efforts carried out by the Lebanese Inter-ministerial Task Force on Migration (ITFM) created in early 2012, it is planned – by sharing information and knowledge with the Jordanian NTFMT - to establish a National Task Force on Migration and Trafficking (NTFMT) in Lebanon, which would define a practical referral system between the relevant stakeholders and where tasks (which would include reviewing the implementation mechanisms of the anti-trafficking law 164) and mandate would be defined by means of a presidential decree. Steps, outcome and recommendations of the measure will be presented and further discussed during the conference.
