Training for judges and lawyers on Protecting Human Rights in National Courts

The Konrad-Adenauer Foundation hosted a training workshop for judges and lawyers on Protecting Human Rights in National Courts, in cooperation with the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace (LFPCP).

Details

This workshop aimed to promote a better functioning of the Lebanese judiciary system with respect to human rights and fundamental freedoms. Therefore the knowledge of the judges and lawyers about the convention for human rights and the international jurisprudence especially that of the European Court of Human Rights should be increased. In this way the opportunities for legal redress against violations of human rights will be empowered.

Therefore, among others, Lebanon’s position towards main Human Rights conventions, protocols and stipulations that warrant individual complaints were discussed. Furthermore the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Child’s Right International Conventions and Law were addressed.
