The Civil Marriage Controversy in Lebanon

In cooperation with the Lebanese University's Faculty of Law and Political Administrative Science the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation organized a discussion about the civil marriage controversy in Lebanon in the presence of Me. Talal El Husseiny.


After a short introduction about the reality of civil marriage in Lebanon, Me. Talal El Husseiny opened the floor to questions and comments, where the students were given the opportunity to discuss their view points concerning the civil marriage controversy in Lebanon and receive answers to their many questions from Talal El Husseiny. The prominent lawyer and activist on civil marriage was able to address both the supporters and opponents of civil marriage among the crowd of students present. He stressed on the importance of the freedom of choice, that would allow each citizen to have the right and freedom to hold his or her own marriage , whether in religious ceremony or on the civil aisle.
