This workshop which was held in Windhoek was organized by the SARChl Professorship in International Constitutional Law, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria, the Faculty of Law, University of Namibia in collaboration with the Rule of Law Program for Sub-Sahara Africa of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

15TH INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SEMINAR

The 15th international seminar was attended by students from Europe and Kenya who presented varied papers on various topical issues relating to election systems in their respective countries.

One of the major catalysts for widespread corruption in Africa is the clear failure in the existing legal frameworks to effectively combat corruption giving an impression that corruption pays and those who reap big from it, are above the law, if not the law itself!

THE STATE OF JUDICIAL INDEPENDENCE IN AFRICA: THREATS, CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The conference sought to provide a platform for jurists drawn from the Bar, Bench and the civil society to contribute to the discourse about the current state of the independence of the judiciary in Africa by inter alia, identifying the existing threats and challenges; as well as identifying and tapping into the available opportunities towards the realization of independent judiciaries on the continent.

THE SIXTH STELLENBOSCH ANNUAL SEMINAR ON CONSTITUTIONALISM IN AFRICA

The theme for this year's seminar was Democracy, Elections and constitutionalism in Africa.The seminar was graced and enriched by keynote addresses of the South African Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng and the Kenyan Chief Justice David Maraga. Also in attendance was former South African Constitutional Court Judge Albie Sachs who was a co-drafter of the South African Constitution.

REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON ADMINISTRATIVE JUSTICE REFORM IN EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICA

This workshop was the first among many subsequent meetings, events and activities that the experts will engage in towards the realization of fair, effective and independent administrative justice system in Africa.
