International Criminal Justice Workshop

Konrad Adenauer Stiftung under the aegis of its Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa held its first meeting for experts on international criminal justice from the French-speaking countries in Nairobi on 18th July 2013.

STAKEHOLDERS’ CONFERENCE ON ENHANCING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE AFRICAN COURT ON HUMAN AND PEOPLE’S RIGHTS

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung under the aegis of the Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa in collaboration with the Coalition for an Effective African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights organized a Stakeholders’ Conference on Enhancing the Effectiveness of the African Court on Human and People’s Rights in Durban, South Africa from 4th to 7th June 2013. The Conference brought together high level state officials, judicial officers, legal practitioners, scholars and experts in the field of human rights, civil society representatives among others from across the continent.

CONFERENCE ON CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM PROCESSES IN TANZANIA AND KENYA

KAS-Rule of Law Program for Sub-Saharan Africa in collaboration the Tanzanian-German Centre for Eastern African Legal Studies [TGCL] and KAS-Tanzania organized a one-day conference on “Constitutional Reform Processes in Tanzania and Kenya” on 24th of May 2013 at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Border management at the Horn of Africa

On February 13, 2013 a workshop took place in the Djibouti Kempinski Hotel to concretise the cooperation between IGAD, KAS and GHHF (Greater Horn Horinzon Forum).

STAKEHOLDERS’ WORKSHOP ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ONLINE LEGAL RESOURCE CENTRE FOR EAST AFRICA

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation under the aegis of the Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa and the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists held a consultative workshop with key stakeholders drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and Southern Sudan on the establishment of an Online legal Resource Centre for East Africa in Nairobi on 11th Decemeber 2012.

The Rule of Law and Economic Development in the Great Lakes Region

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation under the aegis of the Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa organised a two-day Conference in Nairobi for young researchers drawn from universities of Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and Catholic University, Bukavu, from the DRC; National University of Rwanda and the University of Burundi. The main objective of the conference was to examine the nexus between the Rule of Law and economic development in the Great Lakes Region.

KAS' African Experts Study Group on The International Criminal Justice

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Foundation under the aegis of the Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa organised a two-day workshop in Nairobi for a team of experts on international criminal justice drawn from across Africa to interrogate, deliberate and assess the progression of the international criminal justice from an African perspective.

CONFERENCE ON CONSTITUTIONAL LAW REFORM IN KENYA AND TANZANIA IN LIGHT OF THE EAC TREATY

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung under the auspices of its Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa hosted a constitutional law expert’s forum in Arusha, Tanzania on 9th October 2012 to discuss constitutional reform processes in Kenya and Tanzania and their impact on the EAC regional integration process.

Rule of Law Day

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung under the auspices of its Rule of Law Program for Sub Saharan Africa in collaboration with the Uganda Law Society convened the 5th Annual Rule of Law Day in Kampala, Uganda on 8th October 2012 on the theme ‘'The Rule of Law in Uganda: 50 years after Independence"
