Currently there are circulating on the internet various offers of services for obtaining scholarships from the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation, often at considerable costs. Some websites are using the logo of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation without authorization.

Ruling on the SADC Tribunal

The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) successfully challenges the role of former President Jacob Zuma in dismantling the SADC Tribunal. This is the first successful challenge on this matter in a domestic court. Litigation was identified as one of the viable options towards the reinstatement of the Tribunal in the previous KAS-sponsored events.

The Vth AU-EU summit: a turning point for relations between Africa and Europe?

On 29th and 30th of November 2017 the 5th AU-EU Summit took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. 16 of the 28 EU Member States attended the summit, amongst them the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron. For both countries Africa stands high on the political agenda, and the ad hoc initiative undertaken at the summit to address the modern slave trade in Libya highlights the joint concern but also the renewed Franco-German partner- and leadership.

LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR POLITICAL PARTIES IN SELECTED COUNTRIES OF SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA

This booklet provides information on the legal framework that regulates the establishment and functioning of political parties in selected countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. It also provides comparable provisions from former colonies namely France, Great Britain and Germany. The booklet is enriched by the impressions of various staff members of KAS in the field who provide information on the aspiration as espoused in the legal framework and the reality on the ground.
