The KAS Rule-of-Law Program for Subsaharan Africa, partnering with the Kenya School of Law, conducted a workshop on the implementation of the new Kenyan constitution in Naivasha, Kenya, from 18 to 20 January 2012.

The workshop was aimed at the CEOs of the Kenyan parastatals. The turn out of participants was very high.

The event was opened by Hon. Gichira Kibara, Permanent Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs, representing the Minister, Hon. Mutula Kolonzo, who could not attend due to other obligations.

The theme of the workshop was capacity building in the public sector. Leading academics and practitioners contributed to the topic of structuring the Kenyan public service and related services in accordance with the new constitutional dispensation, specially its provisions dealing with integrity.

All presentations received great attention and the discussions were very lively and showed a great interest of the participants in the issues raised. The KAS Rule-of-Law and the Kenyan School of Law will continue their series of workshops on the implementation of the Kenyan constitution.
