Retrăind Fenomenul Pitești / Retracing the Pitesti Phenomenon
The book gathers 17 dialogues about personal and collective destinies related to the Pitesti phenomenon from the point of view of the one who reveals his trauma. Since none of the interviewees are with us today, these are also the last words of these unfortunate figures of history. The volume is a project of the Contemporary History Research Centre (CSIC), published with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The editor is Alin Mureșan.

Seit dem Sieg des deutschstämmigen Klaus Werner Johannis bei den Präsidentschaftswahlen Ende 2014 ist in Rumänien eine Diskussion um deutsche Tugenden und Werte entstanden. Die von der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Anfang 2015 in Auftrag gegebene Studie "Wie werden die Deutschen in Rumänien wahrgenommen" zeichnet ein durchweg positives Deutschlandbild. 84% der Rumänen sehen Deutschland als das Land mit der modernsten Wirtschaft der Welt an. 94% bestätigen den Deutschen Vorbildcharakter und 77% halten Deutschland für einen vertrauenswürdigen politischen Partner Rumäniens.

In Rumänien kandidiert der deutschstämmige Rumäne Klaus Iohannis für die Präsidentschaftswahlen. In einem ersten Wahlgang erzielten er und sein Gegenkandidat Victor Ponta aber keine absolute Mehrheit, so dass es am 16. November zu einer Stichwahl kommen wird. Sven-Joachim Irmer, Leiter des KAS-Auslandsbüros in Rumänien, sieht gute Chancen für Iohannis, die Wahl zu gewinnen. „Er ist Vorbild für die kommunale Entwicklung und deshalb traut man ihm auch vieles zu“, sagte Irmer im Interview mit Deutschlandradio Kultur.
