'Speak out against xenophobia" - Foundation Office South Africa
Seminar
Details
Prior to 1994 foreigners from neighbouring African countries were intergrated in communities in townships and villages in South Africa. Most of them worked in the mines others worked as unskilled labourers in different sectors and others were selfemployed as street traders. However since 2000 there has been an increase in xenophobic attacks in different provinces in South Africa. In most instances, the attacks are against foreigners who are trading in the townships and villages. In this seminar, high-school learners will have a discussion on this topic with the aim of encouraging them to be good citizens by treating foreigners with dignity and respect. The discussions will be facilitated by Ms Nayila Stamper, a motivational speaker on youth and women rights.
