The 3rd climate-neutral handball tournament series South Africa 2018 in Johannesburg - Foundation Office South Africa
Event
Details
The aim of the PLAY HANDBALL Supercup is to reach out with sport to the youth, bring kids from various schools and cultural backgrounds together and to enhance environmental awareness among our youth in combination with playing handball. Special emphasis is placed on educating young South Africans to live more sustainable and environmentally responsible within our communities. Therefore Play Handball has developed in co-operation with the German Sports University in Cologne an Training Manual that integrates Environmental Education with Sport. The manual is in line with the Life Orientation topic Environmental Awareness. Educational modules include information on reduce, reuse and recycle waste, air, soil and water. This manual will assist teachers and coaches how to educate children and youth in a playful way to make an environmental impact whilst
building a sense of responsibility and consciousness on environmental matters. The “Play Fair for the Environment”-Manual will be launched as part of this year’s Supercup. Teacher will be given a train-the-trainer workshop in the methodology and learn during a Zero-Waste-Community-Clean-up how to manage Waste environmental friendly. Nelson Mandela once said, “Sport speaks to the youth in a language they understand,” and we conquer with this.
