The first community awareness event in Mutare included speeches by the local councilor, priest and traditional leaders and role plays. The messages and speeches discouraged repressive cultural practices that marginalize women in land ownership.

Midlands provincial training workshop for traditional leaders
The traditional leader's training workshop was for 25 heads and village heads who determine land allocation in rural communities. Topics covered included the Traditional Leaders Act, constitutional and statutory provisions of land administration.

Who should be compensated? Who should pay? Is compensation below market value constitutional? State and non-state actors deliberated on ways compensation for expropriation is approached and discussed possible implications and suggestions.
