„From Beirut to Baghdad – Konrad’s Journey through the Middle East“ is a podcast by the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation’s Syria/Iraq-Office. Based in Beirut, the podcast discusses current political issues in the region with the foundation’s on the ground partners in Syria, Iraq and across the Middle East. Each episode sheds light on up-to-date political, social and economic topics, and provides insights into life and work from Beirut to Baghdad.

Interview with Inna Rudolf, research fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalization and Political Violence in London, on the US elections of November 3, 2020 and its impact on American foreign policy in the Middle East with a special focus on Iraq.

In the third episode Inna Rudolf assesses the election of the new US-President Joe Biden and its impact on American foreign policy in the Middle East with a special focus on Iraq. Will the president-elect have a different approach towards Iraq than the current US administration? How is Biden being perceived by the Iraqis and what might be their expectations? Further, what does Iraq’s neighbor Iran expect to come: Will the US-Iranian confrontation on Iraqi soil intensify or will Biden defuse tensions on the ground? And finally, is a return to the JCPoA nuclear agreement that Donald Trump left in 2018 likely?
